The nearby University of Maryland, Baltimore campus and University of Maryland Medical System are also key businesses. With high admissions policies and some of the oldest public schools in the nation, Baltimore City Public School System ranks highly. Baltimore City College holds a deep-seated rivalry with Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, and Western High School is the oldest public all girls school in the country.
